Wow, one month down in Q2 and only two more months to go until Q3! I have a lot from the month of April to share with you, so let’s get right into it!
Prepped A Month Ahead Again
I’ve been on a roll with my batching tasks, and I was able to prep for the month of May for almost all of my tasks, including blog posts, social media, and more. I did have a few bumps along the way, mainly a lot of client work and trying to adjust to having a new VA. Which brings me to my next point.
Worked With My VA + Subcontract Decision
I think I’ve finally found the VA of my dreams. She’s efficient, a quick-learner, and seems to be Type-A just like me. She’s handle all of the tasks I’ve given her with ease, and she’s made my life SO much easier. At the end of this month I proposed an offer for her to subcontract some client work for me, and lucky for me she said yes!
Hopefully this gives me the opportunity to take some more tasks off my plate, so I can start enjoying life a little more. I’ve been in constant “work” mode for about 5 years now, and even with breaks and better self-care, it’s starting to take it’s toll. I want to be able to get my biz to the point that I can start putting more things on autopilot.
Gained Two Writing Clients
And of course after saying that I wanted to start putting more things on autopilot, I chime in with the fact that I gained two new clients! Luckily they’re writing clients, which means I earn the same amount of money no matter how long I work. I can easily write a blog post in less than an hour, so mixing my online business manager tasks with writing will give me a nice boost to my income. Plus, I enjoy doing it!
Worked On My Ebook
I wanted my ebook to be completed by the end of April, but sadly that just didn’t happen. I worked over 180 hours for clients, plus around 20 hours on my blog. That’s over 50 hours a week, and that’s not including my family time, errands, and just trying to live my life. Needless to say, my ebook was put on the back burner, but I’m hoping to take more time to focus on it and finish it in May!
Personal Life Recap
Bought An RV
So my husband and I made the leap and bought a fixer-upper RV. We’ve been talking about tiny living for YEARS, and have lived in nothing but smaller places during our entire relationship (we’ve never lived in anything over 1,000 sq ft, even with our daughter and caring for my sister). I’ve been wanting to move back home to Texas ever since I moved to Missouri, and we’re making that happen. We plan on stationing ourselves around the Austin area, but man is it expensive. So, tiny living will afford us the opportunity to escape the cost of living, and start saving money towards building our dream home vs. buying.
Spent A LOT Of Money
Due to the RV, and many other personal expenses (like the back and forth drives to support my sister and enrolling my daughter in preschool), I spent WAY too much money in the month of April. Granted, I didn’t get into any debt, but I still hate that I spent so much. Even though we saved the money for the expense of buying an RV and the other expenses that we’ve been planning for, I hated seeing our savings dwindle down.
Of course we still have our emergency fund, but I’m hoping to build our regular savings back up ASAP. If you don’t know, my first love (and blog) involved personal finance, and I’m a stickler for managing my money the right way. I didn’t grow up with the best money figures, and I consider myself a hoarder when it comes to money. I don’t want to spend it, because I’m afraid of needing it and not having it. I’m slowly working through my mindset, trying to think more abundance than scarcity, but it’s hard to do as a natural pessimist.
Decided To Hire A Personal Trainer
In addition to thinking more abundantly with my money, I’m also trying to think more abundantly when it comes to my health! I lost over 30 pounds in 2017, but lately I’ve noticed how my weight loss and fitness has hit a snag. I just don’t have the time. Well, I do have the time, but it hasn’t been a priority. So, to kick myself into high gear, and to get my ass back on track with my health journey, I decided to hire a personal trainer. I’m starting with her first thing in May, and I hope she’ll give me the accountability and push that I need to keep working towards my goals of being healthy and fit.
Started Reading Three Books
April was a crap month for me reading wise. I didn’t even finish the books I got from Audible! However, I did start reading a few, and so far they’ve all been amazing. I started reading Business Boutique by Christy Wright (I’m almost finished with this one!), An American Marriage by Tayari Jones, and All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr. I hope to finish these all soon, because I am 10 books behind on my goal to read 52 books by the end of the year. Let’s hope I can accomplish it!
April was busy, a tad stressful, but ultimately amazing. I’m seeing pieces of my life come together, and it makes me all the more excited for the year to continue.
What did you accomplish in April?
